AN ANALYSIS OF RESTORATION OPTIONS ON LOWER DUTCH CREEK, JANUARY, 2011.

Issues around returning the lower portion of Dutch Creek were brought to the attention of the Columbia Wetland Stewardship Partners in 2009. Funding was requested from three sources to investigate options for returning lower Dutch Creek to its original channel, which flowed directly into Columbia Lake and not into the Columbia River. Initial investigations into the situation indicated that the required diversion would be in the order of several hundred thousand dollars, due to the difficulty of working at the site and the costs associated with going through the necessary governmental requirements for working on such a site. The Columbia Wetlands Stewardship Partners is concerned with being fiscally responsible. The committee overseeing the project therefore decided that we should save the various funding agencies the cost of a more detailed analysis and decided not to proceed with the assessment.
